OneDrive / SharePoint Sync Issue

I recently upgraded from Office 2013 to Office 2016. I am attempting to Sync my SharePoint Drive with my computer so files can be viewed in Windows Explorer.  When I click "Sync" from the SharePoint web application, I get the following error:

"We coundn't sync this library."  "This library can no longer be synced using this application.  To sync these files, use the latest OneDrive application."

I have tried everything I can think of and find online and cannot seem to find a fix.  Any help would be great.

Hi David,

Firstly you can configure which client starts when users click the Sync button in a SharePoint document library.

Please browse to the SharePoint admin center as a admin:

https://contoso-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/TenantSettings.aspx

Under Sync Client for SharePoint > Set to "Start the new client".

Or, you can just launch the new client (OneDrive.exe) located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneDrive, add your account to start syncing.

Additionally, you can configure your new OneDrive app to sync SharePoint library files by setting registry keys. Please check this article:

Enable users to sync SharePoint files with the new OneDrive sync client

Regards,

Jim

Thank you for your response.  First, a couple FYI's.

    • On my computer, I have "Microsoft Office OneDrive" and "OneDrive for Business."  When I look at "Programs" in "Control Panel," I can see "Microsoft Office OneDrive," but not "OneDrive for Business."
    • I have both blue icons on the taskbar: "OneDrive - <your company> and "OneDrive for Business"
    • The file size is only about 3GB
    • I have restarted the desktop sync app
    • I have turned off Office Upload
    • The file path is less than 100 characters
    • I have permissions
    • There is NOT already a file or folder with the same name in the same location
    • Plenty of space on PC
    • I have unlinked and run OneDrive setup again
    • I have reset OneDrive
    • I have uninstalled and reinstalled
    • When I click "Sync" from the SharePoint web application, I have a pop up that reads "Open URL:Groove Site Client Protocol?" My only options are to Open or Don't Open
    • When I Open, I get another popup which reads, "Sync the library 'Documents' from Area 51 (area 51 is the group name).  It also has the filepath and says "You'll find your documents in File Explorer"
    • I click "Sync Now"
    • Next, I get the popup, "We couldn't sync this library." "This library can no longer be synced using this application.  To sync these files, use the latest OneDrive application."

I feel like I am going in circles.  Everything worked fine prior to upgrading from Office 2013 to Office 2016.
