Hi,

In editing papers I often get the following error message: Missing proofing tools. This document contains text in Russian which isn't being proofed. You may be able to get proofing tools for this language.

There is no Russian text in any of my documents.  What gives

Ciao,

I'm Ugo, a Microsoft Independent Advisor willing to help other Microsoft customers.

Regarding your question, as a first troubleshooting step, can you please try to select all the documenttext (Ctrl+A) and then set it to the correct language?

Please let me know if this helped somehow.

Ciao

Ugo

If the document was prepared by someone else, it is quite possible that it contains text for which the proofing language has been set to Russian.

Note this is not a document setting, it is actually at the character level.

Try using Ctrl+A in the document to select all text in the body. Under the Review tab, use Language - Proofing Language to set it all to the correct language.

I'd suggest trying to repair the installation.

The instructions to follow to do this are here:

That the proofing language has been set to Russian, does not mean that it is Russian, just that Word thinks it is.

This language setting can also be embedded in styles. If that seems to be the case, write back with information about which language should be applied.
