I'm having issues with the find/replace tool in 2011 word for mac. I was trying to find all italic words in the document and replace with bold but instead I got italics and bold. I tried this on a PC as well and got the same result. What can I do to correct this?

Hi MeghanCyr,

I'd like to explain that we need not only to replace one format with another but also to peel off the existing format.

In this way, the text format is replaced, not added to existing format.

Therefore, in your case, we can replace italic with bold first as you mentioned, the words' format should be bold and italic now.

Then replace bold and italic with not italic, the text should be only bold, no italic.

Regards,

Joanne
