Hello,

I have a problem with opening some *.xlsx files saved on one of our servers. We using Office365 for Business.

Example:

Someone sent me an email with xlsx or xlsm file using Outlook. First, I save this file to the desktop, make some changes, and save it to the server.

Then I try to open this file from the server and MS Excel give me the notice "The document is locked for editing by another user." Is no any other user. Does not matter how long time closed Excel is.

In this file are the Macros and VB scripts. On the server in the "Share and Storage Management" i see this file opened four times.

It's happens with other files too (in this time i known about 6 files).

Have you any advice?

Thanks

    Hi Zixuan,

I tried Windows Server 2008R2 and 2012R2. Immediately after uploading file and opening, an error occurred.

Yes, the new file contains macros.

    Kind regards

    Marek Reznicek

I have this same problem when trying to some files on a network server. Usually, if I wait 30-60 seconds I can open it without the warning. I think it's something to do with the network rather than Excel.

    Hi Rezníček Marek,

    Thanks for your uploading.

Please let me know what the server you mentioned is.

And by” When I create a new file, it's OK”, do you mean the issue doesn’t occur with the new file?

If so, are there any macros in the new file?

    Regards,

    Zixuan

    Hi Zixuan,

I saved this file as other name, saved it to other server. This "new" file is no shared and no other users hase access.

When I create a new file, it's OK

I have no information about same issue with Word or other Office application.

    The screenshots are attached.

Our Excel is in Czech language. (Sorry about that :-) )

    File sent via PM

    Thanks

    Hi Rezníček Marek,

In your case, I would like to confirm what is the server you mentioned. Do you share the file in SharePoint Online sites or SharePoint server? Please let other users who are editing the file close their Excel clients to see if it works well.

If that doesn’t help, could you provide the following info for us to troubleshoot:

1.Create a same file by yourself to test.

2.Create a  new file without any Macros and VB scripts to test.

3.Does the issue occur with other Office application? For example, a Word document.

4.The screenshot of the notice you mentioned.

5.The screenshot of your Office version. (Open Excel>File>Account>Product Information)

6.Share a repro file with us via  Private Message .

    Regards,

    Zixuan
