The only way that could be done would be to unlink the TOC and the modify it either manually or by use of a macro.

I have a TOC in Word that is built with styles. I'm using my own styles, so here I'm going to talk about S1 for 'style 1', because I'm not using H1, H2, etc. S1 appears with page numbers and I've put in a switch so that S2 appears without page numbers. All good. But my S2 is a list of author names, and instead of each one appearing on a new line, I'd like them to appear in a comma-separated list. Is that possible? I don't want to have them as a comma-separated list in the document.
