Computer shut down without warning while I was working on a Microsoft Word document, how to I access the Offline copy of the document

I was working on a Microsoft Word Document when my computer shut down without warning.  After the restart, the computer is pulling up a previous unfinished version of the document from an hour ago.  There is an icon on the bottom right side of my screen that says an "offline version" of this document is available.  Due to time stamp, it looks like the off-line version would be my completed document.  When I click and double click on the icon, nothing happens.  How can I access the offline version of my document?  Any way to get to the finished document?

    Hi Kim,

We would like to confirm if you’re referring to the unsaved version of your document when you mentioned “offline version”. If yes, you can recover the unsaved version of your file from the Manage Document option. Before we proceed, we would like to know the version of Office you’re currently using. Click here for instructions on how to find your Office build and version.

If you’re using Office 2016, you can follow the instructions in this article to recover the unsaved version of your file.

Let us know if you need additional assistance.
