Excel 2011 Version for Mac

My boss who has a mac is having trouble accessing sheet 2, sheet 3, etc. of his spreadsheet, he can only access the first sheet of his spreadsheet. He explained to me:

"The issue is that I have created Excel workbooks (with multiple worksheets in them) in Microsoft Office 2011;

I can open the workbooks in Microsoft Office 365.  However, when I click on the tab to access one of the sheets (other than the one on top), I cannot do so … I cannot access them.

When I revert the workbooks to the Office 2011 version of Excel … I can access the various worksheets"

If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it I would be ever gratefully for the help since I do not use a Mac. Thanks in advance!

    Rena,

I will ask him how he logs in and I will provide him with the link that you provided me. When I sent him the information that you provided yesterday he informed me that he is traveling and will get back to me Monday. I will let you know when I have an answer from him and I thank you for your time.

    Thanks,

    Robyn

    Hi Robyn,

I just notice that your boss is using the Office through the Go Daddy platform. To know more clearly about this, please also tell me the information below:

    1. Please provide the URL your boss login to the Go Daddy platform Office Online?
    2. Let your boss try the Office Online in Microsoft Platform to see the result, the URL can be : https://products.office.com/en-sg/office-online/documents-spreadsheets-presentations-office-online

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Robyn,

Thanks for the information. Now we know the issue is: can’t open the workbook created by Office 2011 for Mac in Office 365 Online.

As the issue is related to the Office 365 Online, we first suggest him change other Internet browsers with private or incognito window to see the result.

If the issue happens to multiple Internet browsers with private or incognito window, this issue may not be related to the Internet browsers. Then please check the information below:

Please confirm if the issue only happens to a specific workbook or all workbooks created by Office 2011 for Mac?

If the issue only happens to a specific workbook, we suggest he can try the steps below:

    1. Open the workbook in Excel 2011 for Mac.
    2. Create a new workbook from within Office Online
    3. Copy sheets to the new created workbook to see the result.
    4. If copying sheets can’t help, please try to copy content in cells directly to the new created workbook sheets Online to see the result.

If the issue happens to all the workbooks created by Office 2011 for Mac, please create a new workbook in Office 365 Online to check if the new workbook created directly by Office Online can work well.

If that is convenient, we appreciate you can get the example problematic workbook from your boss, upload it to us so we can test it by our side to see the result. To protect your privacy, I have sent you a private message to collect them. Please access it via this link. In case of the issue is only related to your boss’s account, please also provide us the tenant information via the private message link.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Rena,

We have Microsoft Office through the Go Daddy platform and the version (I just confirmed with them) is the 2016 online version.

I have sent the help on to him but in the meantime I wanted to give you information on his system.

#4 - When I had previously asked him about his system this is what he told me:

I use a MacBook Pro, Retina display (mid-2012 build).  I use macOSX 10.13.3 (High Sierra).  I use the Calendar app Version 10.0 (2195.2.1), Contacts Version 11.0 (1808.6), Mail Version 11.2 (3445.5.20) … from which I am sending this note.  I do have Microsoft Office 2011 Version 14.7.7, but moved it off my computer to a separate hard drive so that it would not conflict with Office 365.

Thank you so much for the help! I am not a MAC person and we do not share the same office space.

    Robyn

    Hi Robyn,

I would like to confirm the "I can open the workbooks in Office 365", does the "Office 365" means Office 2016 for Mac client apps or Office Online?

If this means Office 2016 for Mac, please check the information below:

Please check if the issue only happens to this specific workbook. If so, the first we can try is:

    1. Open the workbook in Excel 2011 for Mac.
    2. Create a new workbook from within Excel 2016 for Mac.
    3. Copy sheets to the new created workbook to see the result.
    4. If copying sheets can’t help, please try to copy content in cells directly to the new created workbook sheets to see the result.

If the issue persists, we need more information below for more investigation:

    1. The Office 2016 version. You can let him go to Excel > About Excel to check the version. We suggest him keeps the Office to the latest version 16.11.
    2. Please confirm if the issue only happens to the specific workbook or all workbooks.
    3. Create a new workbook with multiple sheets in Office 2016 for Mac, can he access the multiple sheets?
    4. The OS version. For example, Mac 10.13.3 High Sierra or Mac 10.12.6?

    Thanks,

    Rena
