A problem I had periodically, but now almost all of the time, is having text boxes move uncontrollably across my screen when I click on the box to edit. Photos, when clicked on, also move mysteriously and uncontrollably. I have rebooted the computer (sometimes a number of times) to not have the problem but this is tiresome. I am able to resize the boxes in the "Format Text Box" options by changing the dimension measurements, and move the boxes by "nudging" them manually with the arrows, but would prefer to move by the mouse.

My guess is that you are working on a secondary screen attached to your laptop. Either switch back to your primary screen for editing the publication or Page design tab > Layout group and uncheck both align to guides and objects.
