Problems with missing items when printing a chart in Excel 2016

When trying to print an Excel 2016 chart, it is missing several features (e.g. Axis Labels and Lines with arrowheads).

Have tried with several printers and also as a pdf but none of them work . . . the missing items don't even appear in print preview, although they appear perfectly in the chart itself.

I solved the axis label problem with a simple workaround by inserting a text box instead . . . but have no idea how to make the line appear.

Most grateful any help/advice.

Hi again,

Just found the problem  and solved it.

Whilst the Lines and Axis Labels appeared to be within the chart, when I moved the whole chart, they stayed in position, so were not part of the chart at all.

Redid them within the chart and now everything prints fine.

Hope this helps someone else.

John

    Hi Yolvi Ell,

    Thanks your response.

Answers in same order as your questions:

    (i) Windows 10 version is 1703 (OS Build 15063.726).

    (ii) No idea

(iii) Haven't tried printed a chart for well over a year so there have been many changes.

    (iv) No

Installed updates as suggested. Made no difference.

Would be most grateful further suggestions.

    Thanks, John

    Hi John,

It's possible that some settings are preventing you from printing the chart properly. We'd like to learn more information about your concern so that we could provide the proper resolution. We just have a few questions for you:

    • Which build version of Windows 10 is on your computer? To check, click Start, type winver, and press Enter. For example, 14393.1066.
    • Does this also happen when printing other charts from other files?
    • Did you make any changes to your computer before this started happening?
    • Did you get any error messages? if yes, please post a screenshot.

As initial recommendation, we suggest installing the latest Office updates to find out if this is due to outdated software. You can follow the steps to install Office updates here, then check if the issue persists.

We look forward to your answers and the result of the initial troubleshooting.
