Excel Data Validation - can't scroll down list using either the arrow buttons or scroll bar

Hello

When trying to select from a data validation list, the first eight options are available to click, but I can't select any items further down the list as both the scrolling arrows and scroll bar are visible, but don't respond when clicked.

The file is shared between various users who do not have the same issue, even those with the same Windows/Office package.

Thanks

DB

    Hi,

Issues with the worksheet or with the Excel app itself may be causing this. We suggest that you try creating a new workbook with a sample data validation, and see if the you'd be able to scroll down the list. In case that you'll still encounter the same issue, you may perform Office repair.

Feel free to update us with the result.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

The same issue occurs with data validation on other, shared files.

The repair suggested was sadly unsuccesful.

The file was created on Win7/Office13.  The user with the issue is on Win7/Office16.  Others users with the same Win7/Office16 have no issue.

    Thanks

    DB

Thank you for updating us. If the issue persists after running a repair, we suggest that you download and run the Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer tool to analyze the Office program for known configurations that caused the problem. After the scan, this will also provide what causes the issue and links for troubleshooting steps.

Do let us know should you need further assistance.

using the same excel file on mac and on windows gives different results.

data validation in a cell with drop down menu.

on mac trackpad scrolls easily between values.

on excel for windows, it doesn't work. the only way to scroll beyond what's visible in the drop down menu is to use the arrow keys.

that's not a malfunctioning issue but a very important feature that is missing in excel for windows.

I have exactly the same issue and have has this many times with large files that have been in use for a while.

Invariably they develop this bug and it is very inconvenient, I have never find a solution, other than starting with a new file from scratch. Which is of course not an option.

I have the problem on Excel 2016 on my desktop and my work laptop.

    Microsoft should fix this.
