Excel cannot copy images to new workbook

Using Office 365 - Excel 2016.

Files have been exported to Excel from another program.

I'm attempting to use the "Move or Copy Sheet..." feature to move a sheet from one workbook to another. The sheet comes over just fine, but the images do not.

This is the original file. (Information cleared intentionally)

And this is what the sheet looks like after the move.

I've tried various different methods of copying and pasting the information into the other sheet with varying success. Copying a range of cells will bring some of the images across, but I've found that some will not move even if I try to copy and paste them individually.

I'm not getting any warnings or anything noticeable. The images simply don't appear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

(I would attach the files to help with troubleshooting, but I can't seem to find the option to do so)

    Hi Johnny,

To troubleshoot this issue, please share with us more details about it:

    1. Can you copy and paste this workbook normally after you change its’ file extension name? Can you copy and paste them normally if you create one new workbook that with the same pictures?
    2. Does this issue happen to all workbooks or just this one or some workbooks with the same file extension name?
    3. Does Word have the same issue?
    4. What have you changed before this issue happens? (E.g. Update OS/Office)
    5. The version number of your OS(Win+R>type CMD) and your Office(File>Account>Product Information)

Besides, you can send us your workbook via Private Message.

    Thanks,

    NeoWu

    Hello NeoWu,

Thank You for looking into my issue.

    1. I've tried changing the file extension to .csv and it made no difference. I do not have access to the original images, someone else exported the spreadsheets from an external program and I was just asked to help solve this problem.
    2. It happens in all of the 5 or 6 workbooks I've tried that they sent me from the program.
    3. How would I test this in Word? I'm only working with pre-made spreadsheets.
    4. I have not changed anything as I've never had it in a working state.
    5. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.15063], Microsoft Office 365 Business Version 1710 (Build 8625.2139 Click-to-Run)

I will send you the workbook shortly. Edit: I am not able to send a private message unless you send me a request first I believe.

    Thanks,

      -Johnny

    Hi Johnny,

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you mean the files you received are ok but you can’t copy and paste them normally?(images lost)

To have a better understanding about this issue, please share with us your related workbooks.

To protect your privacy, I have sent you a Private Messageto request the file.

    Thanks,

    Neo

Yes. Exactly. They're fine upon arrival, but when trying to paste them the images disappear.

I have attached 3 of the files to the private message.

    Hi Johnny,

Thanks for your reply in PM. We notice that the type of workbooks you send to us is Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Worksheet (.xls). Once we convert them into new type Microsoft Excel Worksheet (.xlsx), some images will disappear. If we edit them without change type, it works well.

As a workaround, we suggest you edit your workbooks without change type and copy it as a whole.

    Thanks,

    Neo
