Lost OneNote notes on Android after clearing data.

I wanted to clear up space on my Android phone, went to settings, and pressed "delete data" for OneNote. I was thinking that maybe it would delete notes stored on the device but would sync with OneDrive and bring them back. All the notes have gone, and it synced the other way round: I've lost notes on all devices.

That day I just continued using OneNote: made 1 new note, hoping the others will sync later. Today, 2 days later, I logged onto my account on a PC - it shows that new note. It means it is synced, and nothing else shows up. Logged in online version of the app - same thing.

Why did this happen? Is it a normal behaviour? When I clear data for OneDrive, for example, I don't lose files in the cloud. I would suggest there were some notes unsent to cloud. But in this case I would lose only some new notes. But I've lost all notes for a long period of time, including those that were made on other devices.

There is a file online, it is located in Documents folder in OneDrive which is created automatically, and there I can find my new file with my new note in a clean notebook. No other notebooks there, nowhere else to be synced from. Maybe I deleted that file while browsing OneDrive from PC. So it's not a clean experiment where I had only Android phone and only cleared space via system settings. And although I didn't delete notes and notebooks via OneNote app on any platform, maybe I somehow deleted the file, and clearing data via Android settings made me think it was the reason of data loss. Maybe it was not the reason, or was only the last event in the chain of events.

    Hi Andrey,

With regard to your concern about your OneNote deleted file, if the settings are not configured to sync online, the file will be unavailable. We suggest that you check your file online and you can download the available file. We also suggest that you visit this link for common task and questions: Microsoft OneNote for Android.
