Hi, when I select a few cells to add up in excel (ex. =sum(C20,C30,C40) I get a zero answer. I have tried formatting the cells as numbers and currencies, my calculator is set to automatic.  The cells I select to add up are also pre-existing formulas (ex C20 will be =sum(C10:C19)

Please advise.

This can only happen if values in C20, C30 and C40 are not numbers.

    Do following -

    1. Copy and paste the formulas in Notepad
    2. Delete the existing formulas in these cells by pressing Delete button
    3. Right click on these cells > Format Cells > General
    4. Copy back the formulas

Now, you should get the right result.
