Excel 2016 Copy & Paste Issue

When selecting a cell to copy it is highlighted with dashed lines around the cell.  After pasting the data into a second cell, the copied cell still has the dashed highlights (as expected).  But, after typing or double clicking in another cell, the highlights on the copied cell should be removed but they are not. Even after saving the excel sheet, the copied cell is still highlighted.

I have to completely close and re-open the sheet to remove the highlights on the copied cell.

Is this a new setting in the options somewhere?  If yes, where - I cannot find it.  Otherwise, how is this issue resolved?

Thanks.

Hi, the issue began when I downloaded and installed Office 2016 (6/12/17).  I have made no other changes, and it happen on all excel sheets opened under 2016.
