comments unreadable

I have just upgraded a computer and added the newest version of excel for mac.  when i add a comment in a worksheet and hover over the red indicator, the comment displays over a transparent background (not a yellow background as in the old version) and overlaps over other information in the worksheet.  It makes the comment unreadable.  Is there a way to set the background to a solid color so I can read it when it expands?

    Apologies in advance.

Referring to below threads, the option to change background color of comments in Excel Mac is not available in Excel 2016.

I actually figured it out.  The worksheet was created in an older version of Excel for Mac.  Opening it in the new version lost some functionality.  New comments entered display correctly, its just the older comments.  I don't have a quick fix for the older comments, other than re-entering them manually in the new version.

Any ideas on how to make the comments readable.  When I open comments there is no way to read them because they display over the text in the worksheet.
