I have a school Office 365 account and have full access to the office 365 apps available online. However, when I downloaded the office OneNote 2016 desktop app for my iMac (running 10.10.5) and try to sign in, I'm met with the following error messages.
- When I try to sign in I get this message:
"That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one."
- When I try to create a new account I get this message:
"You can't sign up here with a work or school email address. Use a personal email, such as Gmail or Yahoo!, or get a new Outlook email."
I found this forum online:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice\_account-mso\_mac-mso\_o365b/you-cant-sign-up-here-with-a-work-or-school-email/56b8dc0f-b7da-4c5d-9e11-fbc2c0ec84b8
and followed the Microsoft representative's (Cliff) instructions for:
- Deleting Office 365 apps and re-installing (didn't work)
- Reactivating them to check the outcome (also didn't work)
a. Close all the Office applications.
b. Navigate to <YourUserName>Library > Group Containers.
c. Find the folders below and move them to Trash.
UBF8T346G9.ms
UBF8T346G9.Office
UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost
Do you have any other suggestions for how to make this work? I am trying to transfer from Evernote to OneNote, but without the desktop app working and syncing, I will not be able to do so.
Thank you,
David
