Separate OneNote Files

Using OneNote 2013.

I want two separate files for OneNote.

1st - Business

2nd - Personal

Within each will be numerous folders, books, and pages. I would create a shortcut on my desktop for each. When I open either I do not want to see or have access to any of the books, folders or pages contained within the other. In other words If I open my Personal OneNote and do bills or work on a thesis, I do not want any connection to the statement of work I have located in my business OneNote. I want it this way so I can copy the two files back and forth between two or more different laptops and the needs require.

I have looked on the questions page for Microsoft OneNote questions and it seems there is a misunderstanding to previous questions of this nature.

I want these to be completely different. I know how to use OneNote, I can import/export documents, open close books, folders and pages, etc. I only want to create complete separate professional and personal files that are totally invisible to each other.

This is not possible the way you want it. Only options I can see are:

Use two different OneNote versions. On Windows 10 there is the Onenote App with reduced functionality, maybe good enough to edit your personal notebook with it and use OneNote 2016 for the business notes.

Or you think of closing the notebook in OneNote 2016 every time before you close the program and reopen that (or the other notebook) after the next OneNote start. Biggest disadvantage: The notebook has to be synchronized (fully downloaded from OneDrive) every time.
