Header does not show up

Hello!

We have two computers both with the same office installation. I created a memo template with a logo in the header that I want to use on both computers. The template works just fine on one of the computers. But on the other the header line and logo does not show! Moreover, when I recreate the header and save the file on this computer, then open again, the header is gone again!!

Why does one of my Word programs delete headers (and also the footer by the way)?!!

This is how the document looks without the header:

Hi,

DO NOT SPEND ANY TIME INSTALLING OR REPAIRING UNTIL you have looked at the following web page.

http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/WhiteSpace.htm

As an Independent Advisor I am required to give the following notice when providing non-Microsoft links:

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

This is a link to a non-Microsoft website. It contains accurate safe information that I think will help you. It was written by Suzanne Barnhill, a Microsoft Word MVP. It contains no ads.

That page, though, may link to other sites that do contain ads. See note above.

Essentially, your headers and footers and page numbers are still there. Word considers them to be part of the "white space" between pages. You've hit on an option that hides that "white space" from you. The link shows you how to get them back and also will likely tell you how they disappeared. It is a well-written page of material and I won't reproduce it here. Hide/display white space is a Word setting and applies to all documents. It is easy to change that setting, even by mistake.

This setting has puzzled people for more than two decades. It is a useful setting but takes people by surprise and if you do not know what is happening it looks like your document was just butchered!

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.

Regards
