2016 Office - Insert Chart function not working

Hi! I've always been able to use all of the functions in my MS Office 2016 for Mac. Now, out of the blue, I'm unable to create a chart, neither using MS Excel nor MS Word nor MS PowerPoint. The "insert > chart" command either doesn't respond (literally does nothing, as if I didn't click it) or it makes the application crash, closing automatically.

I've already tried solving this problem in a few different manners: by closing all MS Office applications and opening them again; by restarting my computer; and I even went as far as removing MS Office from my computer altogether, and downloading and installing it again. But the chart function is still not working.

All the other functions are working normally.

I've recently updated my system to the macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, I don't know if that's related.

If someone has an idea about how to solve this, I would really appreciate it!

    Hi Tina,

Nothing seems to solve the problem; I've even sort of given up on the matter (that's why it took me so long to post again on this forum).

I have tried everything suggested here: I restarted my computer a few times and I tried uninstalling MS Office, by following all of the above mentioned steps. I've updated my MS Office twice now, since I first posted the question (now I'm running version 16.20) and I've updated my OS (now it is Mojave OS 10.14.2).

Also, this issue is occurring with all types of chart, in all applications - excel, word and powerpoint. It is not restricted to one specific document.

If I try opening an existing document with an embedded chart, it says "parts of the document need to be repaired", and it opens the document but without the embedded chart.

If I try clicking any "Insert / Chart" type command, it simply does nothing, and clicking "Recommended Charts" crashes the MS application (excel, word or powerpoint), even when I'm using a clean, unsaved document.

    Hi Andres R,

Thank you for your reply, but this doesn't apply to my issue. My operational system is different from the one in the link you sent (I use macOS, not Windows), and I don't use McAvee.

I'm unable to insert or edit charts using my MS Office 2016 for Mac - version 16.17. This issue is occurring with all types of chart, in all applications - excel, word and powerpoint.

Do you have any clue about what could be the problem?

    Possible the problem is this:

"Since the issue may be caused by McAvee, we suggest you uninstall McAvee and try again to see if the issue happens again.....
