Converting date format

Downloaded a file from Australia that shows dates as DD/MM/YYYY in a column in a spreadsheet. I need to change that to MM/DD/YYYY format. Formatting the cells to new format does not change, like 6/12/18 shows June 12,18. In American format it should read Dec 6,18.

How do I convert ?? HELP !!!!

    Hi,

Select the range of dates and go to Data > Text to columns > Next > Next > Date > MDY > Finish.  If it does not work, then try DMY.

    Hope this helps.
