Resizing the chart add data label

Question

I am building a Box and Whisker chart. I had to manually deleted the data labels from all data points besides the outliers (could not find an option to add data labels to ONLY outliers). After I did it, I had to resize the chart to make it smaller. But when I did so, the data labels were added back. When I stretch the chart, they sometimes disappear, sometimes don't. I am confused. Is there an option to opt off?

Based on my test, the data labels will not come back after I resize the cart.

To delete data labels normally, I'd like to suggest you check this article: Add or remove data labels in a chart to do that. Please have a try and share with me your result.

Besides, please also share with me more info as below to let me have a better understanding of your scenario:

1. The detailed version number of your OS(Win+R>type CMD>OK) and Office(File>Account>Product Information).
2. Steps about how you create your Box and Whisker chart and delete data labels.
3. Does this issue happen to all files even newly created or only related ones?
