I have been working with Excel Map Charts for the first time over recent weeks. With a lot of trial and error I have most of the UK counties displaying correctly. I've cracked province column titles on the countries to get my counties located correctly and have broadly found county systems that work.
I am however really struggling with Neath Port Talbot in Wales. If I place this in the map chart alone, it comes up where I think Swansea should be. Swansea is correctly displayed so both are directed to the same county and the one next door, that I think is Neath Port Talbot, has me totally stumped. Help hugely appreciated as it has taken me a long time to get to this point, to have this one Welsh county defeating me. Is there a work around to get the data displaying manually alternatively?

Dear Chris,
I'm afriad I can't share data which is very frustrating as I would have loved some help. I find that most of my problems (similar to the ones described in the link) were sovled by having a province column (not country) and then breaking it down to England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Map charts is very powerful for a tool for one that is integrated into a spreadsheet. It just has a bit of a tall order with UK data as our county boundaries vary depending on the classification used so I can see how it is a challenge for Bing. Wales has been doing all sorts of stuff with boundaries so my postal adress data took ages to clean up in the first place! It's taken a couple of weeks on and off for me to refine down my county list to one that is working consistently and am happy to share if it saves someone the time.
I could do a test data set - I have about five and they all have exactly the same problem so if you can crack Blaenau Gwent and Neath Port Talbot and tell me how I can apply it would be amazing.
Thanks for the response! It's nice to know it isn't me going mad.
Kind regards
Ros
Hello Acer. I love Map Charts in Excel and this question has come up before in the past two months, and it was also about the UK specifically. I want you to know this is not you. This has been an ongoing issue since 2017.
Here is an article on Microsoft's site with other users having issues. I know this isn't an answer, but I don't want you doing a repair and wasting time for something that appears to be still an issue.
If you want me to test your data with Map Charts, I'm willing to do that. I'm also on Windows 10 with Office 365 home. Please upload to OneDrive. Make sure there is no confidential or sensitive data. Thank you.
I lied! I have another Welsh County problem! Blaenau Gwent is displaying in Monmouthshire too.
