Sharepoint file upload blocked

Hello,

I have an excel workbook saved to my Sharepoint site. The workbook uses Power Query to pull data from excel workbooks that are saved to my Onedrive for Business (there are reasons they are saved in Onedrive for business, which I can go into if curious). I have synced the Sharepoint, Onedrive for Business, and a Personal Onedrive account to my computer.

When I open the Sharepoint excel file from Windows Explorer, I get the warning "Upload Blocked...We ran into a problem with this file and can't save any changes". If I quit Onedrive for Business, I don't have this problem, but I don't quite understand why. It is not ideal to continuously sign out of onedrive for business as I am regularly working with those files as well. Thanks in advance for your help.

Anne

    Hi Anne,

Please confirm if you followed the steps below to get the data from Excel workbook stored in OneDrive for business:

    1. Create a new workbook in Excel, click Data>Get Data>From File>From Workbook.

         2. Navigate to your OneDrive for business synced folder, select the workbook.

         3. In Navigator window, select the Sheet and click Load.

         4. Once the data is loaded, click File>Save As and save the workbook to your synced SharePoint document library.

If something is misunderstood, please provide detailed steps.

In addition, to troubleshoot the issue, we would like to confirm the following information:

    1. Please provide the screenshot of Office 365 Product Information. To get this screenshot, open any working Office app such as Excel or Word, click File>Account, capture the screenshot of all the information mentioned under Product Information.
    2. A screenshot of the error.
    3. Do you get this error with a specific workbook? Try opening different workbook and check if you still get the same error.
    4. You mentioned, “*If I quit OneDrive for Business, I don't have this problem”,*do you mean right-clicking on the OneDrive icon on the task manager and then select Quit OneDrive.

    Thanks,

    Neha

    Hi Neha,

    In answer to your questions:

1-4. No, I used a URL in the source code so that I can refresh data from multiple computers.

      1. I realized today I actually get the error with two workbooks in Sharepoint. One pulls from data located in OneDrive for Business account; the other is a "standalone" workbook saved to Sharepoint.
      2. Yes, that is what I meant.

      Thank you!

      Anne

One more note regarding the second workbook that is located on Sharepoint and does not pull data from anywhere else. One of the graphs on this workbook is also a "webpart" on my Sharepoint homepage. I get this error only when I have the Sharepoint website open on my browser. I have tried to minimize editing, etc. to that graph from the Sharepoint homepage, but perhaps you have suggestions. In any case, I think the reason for the errors for these two workbooks may be distinct from one another.

    Hi Anne,

From the Product Information screenshot, it seems you have installed Office 365 Pro Plus from Microsoft Store and it is not click-to-run version.****I believe this might be the cause of the issue.

The version you have does not have any option to update, as shown in the screenshot below.

In addition, your Office version is behind an update. The current version of Monthly channel is 1811 (Build 11029.20079).

I’ll suggest you uninstall this version of Office from Control Panel and then install Office 365 Pro Plus Click-to-run from Office 365 portal

To know how to uninstall Office, see Uninstall Office from a PC

To install Office 365 from Office 365 portal, see Download and install or reinstall Office 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac.

Once you have re-installed click-to-run, please check if the issue persists.

    Thanks,

    Neha
