Hi,

All the users of my site have now issue when trying to upload files to any libraries (either by drag and drop or Upload button):

Error=value=storebusyretrylater, tag=0x0121d3da

Message=exception=microsoft.sharepoint.spexception, message =The file [hidden] has been modified by [hidden] on 16 April 2018, Chained=(value=2164391991)

When we refresh the file does appear in library but when we try to open, we can't and have error message the file does not exist.

Please help!

Hi Nicolas and Felix,

It seems there’s another workaround. It works by my side, you can check if this also works for you. You can add a Pause for 1 minutes at the beginning of the workflow. It seems the automatically running workflow can work well in this way.

Thanks,

Rena

    Rena,

    Really appreciate you following my issue, great service!

    Since the workflows were done using SPD 2013 indeed i did as per your suggestions and indeed i managed to upload the files without issue.

    I have also created a test library and managed to upload flawlessly.

    FYI, i have tried to re check the "Automatically update the workflow" option and uncheck “Start workflow automatically when an item is created”

    , Save and Publish and then re upload but faced same issue as before.

    That being said now, I really need these workflow to run, so what alternatives do I have?

    Hi Nicolas,

    Based on my research, such error message like “the file has been modified by another user” mostly occurs when a workflow is added to the site. As you also mentioned that the issue happens to most libraries with workflows. Please confirm if there are some SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows in the site? (It seems the SharePoint Online workflow will not cause such issue).

    If so, to check if the issue is related to these workflows, please try to go to SharePoint Designer 2013 -> Lists and Libraries -> select an affected library -> check all the workflows related to this affected library -> go to the Workflow Settings -> Uncheck "Automatically update the workflow" option and uncheck “Start workflow automatically when an item is created” (you can check the allow manually start workflow option) -> Save then publish the workflows -> go back to the library to see the result.

    In the meantime, please create a new library app for test purpose, without workflow, to see if you can upload files well.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi,

    Does the issue happen to all site collections? What about personal OneDrive site?

    => only sharepoint online / cannot access other sites collections but most libraries (at least those with workflow) seems affected.

    Does the issue happen to all file types?

    => Yes, pdf, Word, excel, all files.

    When did the issue happen?

    => Started friday

    To check if the issue is related to browser, try to use other Internet browsers with incognito window to see the result.

    => Tried, Chrome, Chrome under incognito tab, Edge and Internet Explorer, same error

    The screenshot about the error message.

    When trying to open the file:
