Toggle between word files

Hi,

I have MacBook air and using MacOS High Sierra version 10.13.6. I have been using Microsoft office for last 2 years and i never had a problem toggling between 2 or 3 word files. From last few days, I am unable to toggle between word files and I have to move my cursor to the word icon down in the dock and click on it to access the other word file. I am trying the same shortcut keys i.e. "command+~" to toggle but it is not working. Can anyone please help me to resolve the issue?

P.S. I have tried restarting the laptop or quitting the word and then going to library>Preferences and then deleting the com.microsoft.word. file but I could not find the file with that name in Preferences.

Hi HarkeeratGill,

I tested on my side and there is no problem to use "command +`" to switch between Word files. After the research, I think the problem is related to the shortcut of the Mac, please go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcut to check if you have enable "Move focus to next window".

If the problem still persists, would you please confirm whether the problem only happen to Word or all the other applications.

Regards,

Tisky

In the main Word menu bar go to Word> About Microsoft Word to determine the present Version & License type of your Office installation. Include that information in your reply here.

This isn't a Preferences issue, so removing the file most likely would not do any good. What you attempted pertains to older software releases. Even if it were a Preferences issue that is not the correct location for Office 2016 programs which adhere to new restrictions & constraints in compliance with Apple's sandbox requirements.

Until the issue is resolved you also can use the Window menu in Word to select an open document rather than using the Dock icon.. That may be a bit more convenient.
