OneDrive sync folder indexing problem

Split from this thread.

The main issue is the content in "OneDrive - P*C" doesn't have any file content indexing. When viewing Indexing Options, the directory "OneDrive - P*C" doesnt' actully show up as a location available for selection / inclusion. Why?

What are the steps require to have the local OneDrive content indexed correctly by windows 10, and what are the steps required to clean up the duplication of drive issue?

Same issue here - aborting OneDrive enterprise-wide adoption plan until windows search works.

Hi Dougjr17,

Here is a suggestion you may try if you haven't yet:

Rebuild the index: Open Control Panel > type index in the search box > Click Index Options >

Then Delete and rebuild index

Hope it will rebuild the index and include the OneDrive folders in it. If it still not working, please try this:

Open Control Panel > Search for index > Click File Explorer Options > Under Search tab > Check Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files > Apply.

Just for the test, see if the searching gives the expected result.

Regards,

Alex

    Hi Dougjr17,

    Thanks for coming back.

Could you find OneDrive folder in this location C:\Users<your UserName>?

If you haven't change the directory when you sign in to OneDrive Sync client, that the default location for Local OneDrive folder. Or you could right-click the blue OneDrive icon in the taskbar and click Open Folder to open the folder and find the directory.

We also suggest you install the latest version of OneDrive Sync Client from this article: New OneDrive sync client release notes.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hi Dougjr17

OneDrive shortcut in File Explorer is related to registry. We suggest you check if there are any OneDrive registry in the system. If the registries are broke, you could delete them and reconnect your OneDrive account to your machine.

    First, unlink the OneDrive account:

Right-click the OneDrive Icon in the taskbar

Click Settings > Under Account tab > Click Unlink this PC

    \

Press Windows key + R, type regedit to open Registry Editor

Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then useCtrl + Ffind OneDrive records

Delete OneDrive registry related your work account

    Then open OneDrive Sync Client

Sign in with your account > complete the steps > Click Open my OneDrive folder:

    Regards,

    Alex
