Hello,

In excel, I am trying to import from Text/CSV file and I've been doing it without issue for a very long time. However, since last evening, when I attempt to do this, i get an error that says "Unexpected Error, something went wrong. If the problem continues, please restart excel". I've restarted excel multiple times but it's hasn't fixed the issue.  I get to the below screen, where it looks like it's going to load just fine, but once I click "load", that's when i get the error.

Hi Steven,

Here are some suggestions for you:

  1. Install the latest updates
  2. Run Excel in safe mode: If you are running Windows 10, choose Start > All apps > Windows System > Run > type Excel/safe in the Run box, then click OK.
  3. Repair your Office programs. For instructions on doing this, see: Repair an Office application.
  4. Open a new blank file and import a new text file you just saved.

Since it works fine before, may I ask what has changed? Did excle stoped unexceptd or opened some corrupted file? Window Update?

Could you share Excel version and Windows version with us?

Office version: any Office app > File > Account > About

Windows version and build: press Windows key + R > type winver > OK

Could you also share the details of the error with us by clicking the Copy Details?

Regards,

Alex

    Hello Alex,

I've tried all 3 solutions and I'm still getting the error from above.  Recently, I was having issues with Microsoft Outlook that required us to uninstall/reinstall Microsoft office. Since the reinstall, I have not been able to import these files correctly as I had previously.

This is the Windows Version I have:

    Hello Christopher,

I've tried multiple files and am getting the same error. It was working perfectly fine yesterday until later in the day.  This is the error I'm getting, not much info...

Could the problem be in the text file? It might help if you could post a screenshot of the error that you are getting.
