Map Chart - County Level

Hi

My problem is when breaking down map charts (the excel feature) into county levels. I had a problem with some of the french Counties not being recognised, but replacing them with the first 2 digits of area code fixed this.

Now I am working on a map of the united kingdom. Some of Englands counties were not recognised, I managed to fix those by adding "(county)" to the end of the name, but now I am working on Wales and Scotland and I cannot make the counties appear.

The following counties are not recognised in Wales:

Wales Neath Port Talbot
Wales The Vale of Gladmorgan

Is there anyway I can check what criteria the map uses? It already has broken the map down by the areas so surely somewhere there must be a list of approved options to generate that section of the map?

In the French map sometimes I had to add random numbers (citing numbers from a wikia page) to the end of the name in order for it to display. But alas I find no solution for Wales or Scotland.

Hi Rump92,

Per my research, all data for map chart are powered by Bing. It appears that the Map chart can't also recognize the same couties on my side.

Have you considered the workaround to use the 3D Map feature to create charts. 3D map allows to import custom region which may solve the unrecognized regions issue.

You can refer to following article if you're interested.

    Hi Rump92,

    We understand your concerns.

The names should be all acceptable as I have checked them in Bing Map.

As mentioned above, data for map chart are powered by Bing, and it is still under improvement.

In this situation, we would suggest you try Ryan’s workaround, or submit this feedback via smiley face to help us improve.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Jonk

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. But alas a 3D map is not efficient for my purposes.

I am confident that there is an acceptable name for each county, we just need to identify the list of acceptable names for counties.

I discovered a few more Scotland counties last night, such as Scottish Borders county should be referred to as "Scottish borders (Region)" for some reason.
