    Hi Doug, thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.  What I was attempting to do was to save a Notepad document as Unicode rather than ANSI so as to not lose my Unicode characters.  I see that when choosing 'Save as" a checkbox appears with a drop down menu from which I could choose to save in a particular format.  Woke up this morning and realized that the check box was there. So everything is good.

    Please provide more detail of what you want to do.

    However, you may be able to do it by using

    ActiveDocument.SelectContentControlsByTitle

    or

    ActiveDocument.SelectContentControlsByTag
