OneNote showing duplicate Notebooks

Onenote keeps having this issue where if I make a notebook it shows up twice. The links are slightly different and if I click on them they open the exact same notebook. It's just weird that it shows it to me two times. It happens in both Onenote 2016 and Onenote for Windows 10.

As you can see it says one is in OneDrive >> Documents and the other is in a ^.Documents folder. I'm not sure what this is but I don't think I should be seeing it. If I go to open file location the contents are exactly the same.

Here's what happens when I click "open file location" on the first one.

And here's what I see when I click " open file location" on the second one.

I'm just really confused about why I'm seeing two of them when they're the same. Anyone know how I can hide this?

    The caret is the culprit:

It's a relic from an old bug. If your correct Documents folder contains all you need then delete the ^.Documents folder.
