SharePoint Highlighted content

Hi,

I am having trouble with a site page which includes the highlighted content web part. All the owners can view the documents that are apart of the highlighted content, but the visitors I have shared the page with cannot.

Can someone please advise on how I can make the documents read only for anyone who accesses them?

Thanks

    Hi Alexandra,

Please allow me some time, I’ll test on my end to see if I get the same issue.

Meanwhile, if the use with who you are testing comes back, please provide the screenshot. The screenshot will help us identify the issue.

    Thanks,

    Neha

    Hi Neha,

They see everything on the page - including the web part - the documents just do not appear and when they click the web part it takes them to an information page about the highlighted content web part. I can't provide a screenshot right now as the user I've been testing access with is not in the office just yet.

The user I have been testing has read only permissions. We want to give read access to all users so that they can interact with the content but not edit anything.

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi Alexandra,

When you share the site, what does external users see when they visit the page? Do they see the web-part, or just the documents are missing? Please provide the screenshot for clarification.

In addition, please confirm if the user has read or write permission. Do all the external users have the same issue?

    Thanks,

    Neha

    Hi Neha,

I shared the entire site. The documents are just stored in Documents individually on the same site- they are not part of a folder or anything.

The Highlighted content web part has the source as 'this site' and the type is 'documents'.

Any more information you can provide would be fantastic.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alexandra,

Did you share the page only or an entire site? Where are the documents stored which you added in the web part?

In the Highlighted content web part, in the Source dropdown, we select where we want to show content from: This site, A document library on this site, This site collection**,** The page library on this site, Select sites. or All sites. If your site is connected to a hub site, you will also have an option to select All sites in the hub. If you shared the page only and the visitors do not have the access to the above-mentioned locations, then the visitors will be unable to see the documents.

If you want visitors to see the documents in Highlighted content web part on the page, then you must share the site.

    Thanks,

    Neha
