Can't insert chart

I can't insert a chart in Word.

When I try to insert a chart I can see which chart to choose from but when I try to click on any of them nothing happens.

I'm using Word 2016 student version. I've been looking online for someone with a similar problem and I believe it is a problem with permissions. I've tried signing out and logging back on and restarting my computer but that didn't help.

    Do you also have Excel 2016 installed? I believe recent versions of Word rely on Excel for creating charts.

    Yes I have Excel installed and I can still use it to make charts and I think I should be able to export them to Word so I guess It's not that bad of a problem.

    If I follow those steps I finish step 2 but step 3 doesn't happen the graph/chart doesn't appear
