notes per a column after refresh

I build a report in sql and attached it to our sql server to pull data. I have added some column formulas and all works great after refresh. I cannot for the life of me get my column labeled notes to stick with the column after refresh. IE, I make a note on row 2 and after refresh it is no longer on row 2.

Hi Mumbles,

I have tested with the columns in Power Query Editor and it seems that there is not a kind of column which can meet your need.

It may be more convenient for you to add notes in the data source directly.

Welcome other members sharing solutions or workaround here.

In addition, you can also find if there is a solution to use VBA, just post a new thread in Programming category to ask for help.

Best Regards,

Gloria

The note column is not part of the SQL. That way it does not stay attached. It is a column I added after the fact.

    Hi Mumbles,

    Thanks for your screenshots.

First I would like to suggest you update your Office applications to the latest version since you have an old version.

I have tested from my side and when I create a new comment or a new note in the imported data, it shows in the up-right corner of the cell.

Is the note column generated when you get data from your SQL database?

    Best Regards,

    Gloria

I have tried 2 ways to hold the notes to the row. Neither stay with the correct row when clicking refresh all to get the new data. Does this make sense?

    Hi Mumbles,

Did you get data in Excel from a SQL database and add notes in Excel?

To better understand your situation and provide help for you, please help confirm some information:

    1. Please capture a screenshot of your Office product name and version refer to this article: What version of Office am I using?
    2. For the notes, could you please help capture two screenshots of that before you refresh and after you refresh?
    3. Share your detailed steps with me.

    Best Regards,

    Gloria
