MS Project not starting

Microsoft Project Professional working fine until last week, now not opening at all (from Project Center using Edge or Chrome, from start menu). Sometimes I get error messages saying contact administrator.

Licences for Microsoft account are all valid, within trial period and working on a Microsoft Surface Pro (all microsoft hardware).

Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

On a side-note, MS customer support experience possibly the worst I've ever experienced - 6 lengthy calls and no help, keep getting bumped between people, hung up on, sent to the wrong department. Would really love some traction on this so I can get back to working!

    So you are experiencing the issue online? Can you use the Project app on your PC?

    Did you try reinstalling or repairing Office? Is any error log generated?

    Hi Manuela,

    Yes I can access the Project Center online, but as soon as I try to use the app on my PC (either opening without any project file in mind or opening from Project Center) it crashes.

    Hey Alex,

    Thanks for the quick response! Here are the screenshots and info you requested:

    • No changes have happened to my Surface (to my knowledge). I have restarted, but no updates to the system.
    • Version of windows is Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.345)
    • Project version is 16.0.9126.2295. I have repaired this as suggested, issue is still occurring.

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Go into Project Center
    • Open project

    First screenshot: After opening project:

    Then I get a blank screen on Project:

    Then it crashes:

    Note: My profile does have access to this project. Nothing has changed on account permissions since last Friday when I was able to access the project.

    Hi Peter,

    Sorry for all the trouble.

    We suggest you repair office first: Repair an Office application.

    For further trouble troubleshooting, we would like to confirm the following question with you:

    1. Could you share a screenshot of the error message with us?

    2.  Is there any change in the Surface you are using? System update maybe?

    1. The Project version you are using:

    Open Control Panel, locate to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features, check the Project's version.

    1. The windows version

    Windows version and build: press Windows key + R > type winver > OK
