[SOLVED] OneNote Can't Sync Your Notes...Error code: 0xE0000007 bgtyz

I've been using - and enjoying - OneNote for years. Recently I've been trying to wean myself off the Office365 version of OneNote (OneNote 2016) in favor of the UWP version. The UWP version is gradually becoming more capable, but syncing seems to be its Achilles Heel.

I have found it impossible to create a new Notebook in OneNote. Clicking on

doesn't add a new Notebook. I can only create a new Notebook in OneNote 2016. But when I do this, the new Notebook is not added to OneNote UWP. I can see the new Notebook in OneNote Online and I can see it on my Android phone, but it's simply not there in OneNote. Instead, I see the Alert symbol

and the message: OneNote can't sync your notes right now. We'll keep trying. (Error code: 0xE0000007 bgtyz)

This has caused me to go back to OneNote 2016, because I need that new Notebook. So, two questions:

  1. How can I make my new Notebook appear in OneNote UWP; and
  2. Why doesn't

create a new Notebook?

Here's how I solved my problem, and as you'll quickly see, it's not really a solution. Rather, it's a work-around that I would recommend to anyone experiencing the same or a similar problem with the OneNote UWP.

The key is: You must continue to use the Office365 version of OneNote. The UWP version of OneNote is not yet ready for day-to-day use. I have confidence that it will be eventually, but not now.

First: Backup OneNote 2016 to your local computer. This is only a precaution.

File > Options > Save and Backup > Backup

Then, uninstall OneNote (the UWP:)

Start > Right-click on OneNote > Uninstall

Restart your computer, then re-install OneNote (the UWP) from Microsoft Store.

When OneNote launches, all your Notebooks should be there and synced. It will take a few minutes for all your Notebooks to appear, so be patient.

    The link you provided says:

"The OneNote product team is actively investigating this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience that this issue may have caused you and will update this article as soon as more information is available."

... and that link was last updated on November 13, 2017, which is more than a year ago. What good is that?

I'd like to hear from someone who has actual knowledge of this issue, please. For the time being I'm going back to OneNote 2016.
