Excel 365 mac replace all within formula only replacing single cell

So I am trying to do a find and replace within a forumula, in order to change D$34 into C$34 for example. But Not for every cell.

So I select the cells which contain the formula I wish to change, go to find and replace, and type in D$34 into the find box, and C$34 into the replace box, and hit replace all.

In the previous version of excel for mac that I used to use before we "upgraded" to 365, this would then replace every occurrence of D$34 within the selected cells, as you would expect. However now excel decides to unselect my selection, go to the first cell containing D$34, and only replace it with C$34 in that cell. In order to replace all the cells I have to keep hitting find next, then replace, then find next, and replace over and over again. Which is not going to be possible if I try this with large datasets.

How can I get excel to ACTUALLY replace all when I select cells full of formulas, instead of just replacing one cell?

    Hi Philip,

May I know if the issue can be fixed in safe mode or the latest update?

    Hi Philip,

Per my test in Excel version 16.18 (181014), I could replace all formulas including D$34 with C$34 by clicking Find next >Replace All. Please check if you are in the same latest version 16.18. If not, you could update it to the latest version to see if it works fine.

If the issue remains, I would suggest you try accessing Safe Mode on Mac to ensure it is not caused by incompatible login items. And share the result with us.
