I'm getting this incorrect error - there are NO groups contained in the group I'm sharing with. Please explain how you are going to fix this and when.

Sharing failed: SharePoint Groups cannot contain other SharePoint Groups. Remove the SharePoint Group from the Users box and try again.

Hi Webbrewers3,

I'm sorry for all kinds of inconvenience caused by that feature.

Given this situation, I'd like to suggest you create a UserVoice to improve our products better for you and others. This is the best way to improve our products. I appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Neo

    Hi Webbrewers3,

    Sorry for the delay reply.

I'd like to explain that when you click Grant Permissions on Permissions table then Invite people form the group listed on permissions page without permissions level change, this error message will show up.

As a workaround, I'd like to suggest you click SHOW OPTIONS button on  the Inviting page, then choose another permissions leve which is different form the group's previous permission leve.

Please have a try and share with me your result.

    Thanks.

    Neo

    Hi Webbrewers3,

    Thanks for your reply.

    Here are my reproduce steps:

    1. Move to related SharePoint site.
    2. Move to Site setting>Site Permissions.
    3. Click Grant Permissions button on the Permissions tab.
    4. Select the group on the list then click Share.

If I change permission level via clicking SHOW OPTIONS, I can grant permissions normally.

Does this match your scenario? If so, please change permission level to see the outcome.

If it is not your scenario, please share with me your detailed reproduce steps.

    Thanks,

    Neo

"I'd like to explain that when you click Grant Permissions on Permissions table then Invite people form the group listed on permissions page without permissions level change, this error message will show up."

That's not correct. Of course you can add a group by clicking "grant permissions".  What do you mean by "without permissions level change"? I've never had to do that before.

As a workaround, I'd like to suggest you click SHOW OPTIONS button on  the Inviting page, then choose another permissions leve which is different form the group's previous permission leve.

    What is "the Inviting page"?

    I have a better idea:

FIX THE ERROR MESSAGE SO IT'S ACCURATE.
