Why Does Excel "Save As..." Screen Look Different

I just upgraded from Office 2013 to Office 2016 and it REALLY IRRITATES ME that this stuff keeps changing.

Before in Office 2013 the "Save As..." pop up screen looked the way it has for decades...it looks like the file folder system used in Windows Explorer.

Now with Office 2016 the "Save As..." pop up screen looks completely different however when I press the "Browse" bar (it has the open file folder icon) the screen looks exactly like the Save As pop up screen did when using Office 2013.

Is there some kind of setting to change the Save As to be the Browse style interaction instead of the new and "improved" useless system?!?!?!?!?!?!

THANKS!!!

Press F12 to display the 'old' Save As dialog directly.

You can also add the 'Save As' button to the Quick Access Toolbar or to the ribbon (you need to create a custom group for the latter). This button will display the 'old' style dialog directly.

    Hi BlHunter,

Yes a lot of users have been complaining about this . . .

Sadly, there is no way to change this behaviour, when you click 'Save As', Office apps will open the File Menu, then we have to click Browse to get the 'Save As' dialog

I think the thinking behind this one was to show us the last locations where we saved files . . . etc. but as you quite rightly point out it adds another step to the Save As process
