Hi,

i have Office 365 and SharedPoint Online, i'm planning to use mail-enabled security group to give permission to SPO but it doesn't work like that please see below scenario:

SPO Permission

Mail-enabled security group

Members:

Distribution Group

what i want to achieved is every time i added a member on Distribution Group it will automatically give permission to SPO but it seems it doesn't work that way.

i want to avoid putting permission to a O365 Group then another permission group for SPO.

Hi Harold,

A distribution group can’t be synced to SharePoint Online, you can’t give site permissions to the members in the distribution group.

To meet your requirement, I suggest you use an Office 365 group instead of a mail-enabled security group and a distribution group. When an Office 365 group is created, a team site will be created and the group members will have access to the site automatically.

Thanks,

Cliff
