When trying to edit the document properties in Share point i get an error 404.  Before yesterday, I just went to details and could edit all of the items.  Now when I try to edit them, I see a pencil icon and as soon a I hit the icon I get an error 404.   Happens the same way on all browsers.

    Hi Marvin,

    Thanks for your updates.

First, I suggest you try returning to classic experience to check if the issue occurs via the following option:

If the issue still exists, please try creating a new site or library to check if the issue occurs.

    Thanks,

    Qing

The document was not checked out.   There are two images below.   The first shows the properties before I clicked on the PENCIL edit icon.  The second shows the 404 error code after I clicked on the pencil edit icon for the property.

    Thanks for any help.

    Qing,

I accessed the SharePoint site, selected more properties and then edit - see screen below.  Before yesterday, I could just edit all properties.  Now there is a pencil edit icon - see screen shot.  When I click the icon, I get error 404 - not found.   Every document has the same issue and I have tried three browsers on four different computers.  No other user can edit - same error.  I don't have another SharePoint site to try.  Note that the properties download to an Excel spreadsheet with no problems and all of the documents can be opened and edited with Word, Excel and Adobe with no issues.

This issue started on April 23 and the only changes I made to the site was to upload some new documents.  After finding the problem I deleted these new documents but does not solve the problem.

     Any help appreciated.  Thanks, Marvin

    Hi Marvin,

Based on your description, I need to confirm if you can try the following steps to edit properties:

    1. Access the site.
    2. Select the document which you want to edit.
    3. Click …>select More>click Properties.
    4. Click Edit all to check if the issue occurs.

If the issue still exists, could you please provide the following information?

    1. Check if only one document meet the issue.
    2. The screenshot of error message.
    3. When did the issue occur? Which operation have you taken before the issue occurred, such as deleting the document?
    4. Check if other sites also have the issue.
    5. Confirm if other users can’t edit the property.

    Thanks,

    Qing
