Letterhead problem

Hi. I have a letter that has a letterhead and a watermark.  When I select the letter and copy and paste into another document the letter is pasted but the letterhead does not.

Are you saying to copy the letter head and watermark separate and then copy the letter body afterwards ?

A document contains several independent 'layers', in effect like a pile of transparencies which when stacked produce the finished document. The header is in a different layer from the body text of the document, so you cannot copy them together.

As Doug and Suzanne have suggested you could create a copy of the document, or you could use the document as a template to create a new document. Otherwise you will have to copy the elements separately.

You can do them in either order. But if you're inserting the entire letter in a new document, why not, as Doug suggests, just save a copy of the document?

When you select the letter, you are selecting only the document body. The document into which you paste has its own header. To paste the letterhead and watermark, you will need to access the header pane and copy the header (to which the watermark is anchored), then paste that into the other document.
