I have just opened an account for Microsoft Teams. My name by the icon in the top right corner in Teams is spelled wrong! It is speled wrong in such a way that it means something really nasty. I want to change this so that it is spelled right. I am not able to use Teams untill this is spelled right. I have tried to change this misspelled name besides the icon, but there is no option for that.

When I view my profile, my name is spelled rigjt. This is really strange...

I really don't want such a nasty profile name, and I don't understand why it is spelled wrong. All other places in my Microsoft accounts, my name is spelled right, thus the only place where this is spelled wrong is beside my profile icom in Teams.

Can any of you help me solve this?

    Hi  Pernild,

Thanks for your clarification, as I mentioned previously, if we set up Teams for free for our own organization with Microsoft account, there should be an Edit profile option, generally, we can choose Edit profile to change the name we'd like to use from Teams web page directly > Save > Close.

Since we can't see the screenshot you provided. If you are in different situation, could you please upload the screenshot of your Teams profile by clicking Insert image icon as below?

    Regards,

    Bryan

Hi and thank you so much for helping me.

I have set up Teams for free for my own organization with my Microsoft account. Please see the screenshot of my Teams profile.

Here you can see that the 2. and the 3. letter are in the wrong place in my name. The name in the profil eis the right one (Pernille), and the display name is wrong. I really don't understand this...

    Hi  Pernild,

If you are invited by Office 365 user to use Teams as Guest user, I suggest you contact the one who added you as a guest in Teams to contact the admin of his organization, then let the admin change your contact information in admin center according to the steps l mentioned above.

If you set up Teams for free for your own organization with your Microsoft account, could you please provide screenshot of your Teams profile like following image.

    Regards,

    Bryan

Hi and thank you for your reply.

    The issue persist.

I was not able to acess this Office 365 because I dont have a subscription to this. I am using it for free.

Version: You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.2.00.3961 (64 bit). It was last updated on 27/02/19.

Would you know how I could change to my right display name without this subscription?

    Best regards

    Pernille

    Hi  Pernild,

The name in Teams profile is actually the same as contact information when creating this account in admin center if your account is Office 365 account or a guest account in Office 365, if the name of this account is spelled wrong, please try the following steps to change the contact information and check the result.

    1. Login to Office 365 admin center with an admin account.
    2. Navigate to Users > Active users.
    3. Double click your mailbox and then click Edit in the Contact information section.
    4. Change the Display name and Save, restart your Teams and verify the result.

Note: This change may take some time to take effect. Please be patience .

If you are using Microsoft Teams for free and set it up for your own organization, you can choose Edit profile to change the name you'd like to use from Teams web page like following image.

If issue persists, may I confirm that if your account is Office 365 account or a guest account or you are using Microsoft Teams for free and set it up for your own organization? In addition, please click your profile photo in the top right corner>About> Version and provide the Teams version for us. It will show in the top of the screen.

    Regards,

    Bryan
