Excel-Office 365-Cannot select cell reference without having to click multiple times

Can anyone help?  I'm trying to create simple addition formulas in Excel (=A1+B2+C3+...) by typing "=" in the cell, following by clicking the cell references separated by a +.  In another version of Excel, I never have any issues.  However, with Office 365, it requires me clicking on the cell reference at least twice, sometimes three or four times to add it to the string.   The cells are all formatted correctly (number), and not locked/protected.  I don't understand why it's requiring multiple clicks to select a cell reference.  Anyone else have this issue?  Thanks!

No, I used to have this problem before the reinstallation too.  I just got extremely frustrated tonight with trying to edit an Excel file that I am just now reaching out for help on the same issue.  I just did a "quick repair" through the link suggested and it didn't help.  Trying an "online repair" now and it's in the process of installing, but I don't think it will fix the issue.

Was it after you reinstalled that the problem started? If so, yes I recommend the repair.

Thank you for your response.  I just reinstalled Office 365 this morning (separate issues with Windows 10 and I had to restore my PC, which required a reinstallation of my apps).  Do you still think a repair would help?

I'd suggest doing an online repair of the installation.

The instructions to follow to do this are here:
