File type not recognized.

I recently bought a HP laptop with a pre installed version of MS office. My system does the recognize.xls file types. The system shows file type as ms-resources: Strings/FtaDisplayName.xlsx. Kindly help in this regard.

    Hi Karthikeyan.1995,

    Right click an xls file, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

    Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open xxx . . .'

    If Excel is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

    Again if Excel is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find he Excel application in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mocrisoft Office\
