Hi,
I work a lot on Excel financial models and am experiencing consistent bugs with Excel and have not found a thread online that deals with this issue
I am using a relatively new setup and my laptop generally runs very well:
When I open an Excel file, often times the screen will randomly freeze, showing a grey part at the top, blurring some cells, and even though if I move the arrows the cell moves according to the cell locator (top left Excel screen), no cursor movement is shown. I basically can't do anything until I exit Excel and hopefully manage to re-launch it without continuously experiencing this issue. I am however able to save and then close so I don't lose my work.
See attached a screenshot.
The issue seems more pronounced when panes are frozen and I am sometimes able to avoid the issue by launching the software and immediately clearing the outline and unfreezing the panes on the given sheet.
Would appreciate your help on this. Excel has always been reliable and I find it highly unusual that I am experiencing such problems on a fully updated & new system...
Many thanks.
Nick

Hi Nick,
May I know if you need further assistance?

Hi Nick,
Sometimes some certain format in a workbook might cause this issue. So I would like to confirm following information to narrow down this issue:
1.Does the situation only occur in a certain workbook or all workbooks? If it only occurs in the specific workbook, what steps did you do when the issue start to emerge?
2.If you create a new workbook and do some simple test, does this issue persist? If the issue start to happen, what steps were you doing at that time? We need some details to check if I can reproduce the issue on my side.
3.If you move the problematical workbook to a new workbook, does the issue still occur? Step: Select the sheet at the bottom ribbon >Right click to choose Move or Copy...
4.Please share your current Excel version (Product name and Full version number) with us.
Regards,
Eli
Hi Andreas,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes I currently have hardware acceleration disabled in my Excel settings.
Nick
Did you tried to disable the hardware acceleration?
