Hi Alex,

I seem to have this working now. What I did was unlink OneDrive as you suggested then instead of syncing all folders, I only selected one small folder. The sync was successful. I then added several additional folders and they synced as expected. Finally I added all remain folders and the sync was once again successful.

Now for my next question...Is there a way to see the OneDrive icon overlays in Explorer in Windows Server 2016? I was able to see them in Windows Server 2008 R2 but I am unable to see them in Windows Server 2016.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties.

    Do you comply with this:

Roaming, Mandatory and Temporary Windows profiles aren't supported. The OneDrive desktop app only supports users who can write to OneDrive for Business application directories.

Additionally, the OneDrive for Business desktop app doesn’t support client sessions that are hosted on Windows 2008 Terminal Services, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2016 Remote Desktop Services (RDS). This includes non-persistent Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). Persistent VDI is supported by the OneDrive desktop app.

For the OneDrive for Business desktop app to work as designed, the following requirements must be met:

The application must be installed on the local computer.
The user must be able to write to the user profile.
Data that's written to the user profile must be saved to the local hard disk and be available without a network connection.

Please let me know I'm happy to try to solve your problem.

    Hi Jeff,

Our OneDrive client in Windows PC runs fine. May I ask OneDrive client ever runs before in the same server?

There is an article about Restrictions and limitations when you sync files and folders, you may check the Windows specific restrictions and limitations part see if all the requirements of OneDrive Sync Client are met in your server. If all the requirements are met, here are some suggestions you may try to fix it:

    1. Unlink OneDrive and run OneDrive setup again.
    2. Reset OneDrive.

      a. Press Windows key + R.

      b. Enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

      c. Click OK.

      d. Make sure the OneDrive icon in the notification area of the taskbar disappears and then re-appears after a minute or two.

      e. If the OneDrive icon doesn’t re-appear after a few minutes, press Windows + R again and enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe

For further troubleshooting, could you also share when does it crash? Does it happen when downloading some files?

    Best Regards,

    Alex
