First...I have been using the decrease indent button for close to 15 years at 10 hours per day with no problem whatsoever.  Please believe me when I say the decrease indent button is broken.  Increase indent button is working fine.  Please fix the decrease indent button.

Is it the button or the keyboard shortcut that isn't working? If the latter, have you installed any new software recently? It is not at all uncommon for third-party software to hijack Word's keyboard shortcuts. If you're lucky, there will be a Settings or Options or Preferences setting in the third-party software that will allow you to reassign the shortcut (or at least disable it). If not, at least you can assign a new shortcut (check first to see whether Ctrl+Shift+M is still assigned to it).

Hello Tammy14. I'm sorry you are having issues. I tested on my Word 2016 for Windows and decrease indent worked correctly. Can you run a small test?

    1. New Document
    2. Turn on numbering
    3. Type "ABC" for number 1 and press Enter.
    4. For number 2 click Increase indent twice and then decrease indent twice.

Hopefully, it went from 2 to little "a" then little "i "and then back to "a" and finally back to 2.
