Format changed overnight

Hello,

I have a 500- pages document that I have edited in a number of forms for the last two years.

The original format was that of a book publishing template, which has served me for various projects without a problem. Until yesterday, when I woke up, fired my Mac and found that the format had somehow reverted to normal template, deleting my footnotes and creating a huge mess with titles, subtitles and indexes. To manually fix all of the problems will take me another three months at least.

I spent my Saturday trying to revert to earlier versions, with no success. Any help with this issue will be deeply appreciated.

Have you tried re-attaching the original template?

Templates, when attached to a document, can greatly affect how that document looks. You can change from one template to another at any time, as described in this tip.

maybe you'll get lucky and things will go back to where they were. ...

If you were saving to OneDrive, did you check the recycle bin there too?

RESTORE DELETED FILES OR FOLDERS IN ONEDRIVE RECYCLE BIN

If you accidentally delete a file or folder in OneDrive, you may be able to recover it later from the OneDrive recycle bin.

OneDrive Files always Open Read Only

The solution for me was to right click on the folder containing your documents, go to properties and untick the Read-only attribute. You can do this for one specific file as well or a folder containing other folders. Hope It helps.

    Hi Maria,

I do not have a Mac and am writing from my experiences with the Windows version. That version is similar, but the two are not the same. While I used Word on a Mac, that was a long time ago. Nevertheless, I hope that I can be of some help.

Any chance you are in web view? There have been recent reports of the view switching to web view.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or require further help.

    Regards
