As of this morning we are unable to create any new notes either by right clicking or going into the Review menu. Also when we want to edit any existing Notes it wants to convert them all to threaded comments. Can anybody help as I want to just enter a simple note against various cells?

After live-chatting with a Microsoft rep, I repaired my Office 365 via the programs & features application for PC. My notes and all its functions are restored. If you have a PC, hold down Start/Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl and click "ok". Find Microsoft Office 365 on the list, highlight and click "change" up above, and choose "quick repair" to fix the issue. It will close all your MS Office apps so save beforehand. I restarted my computer to be safe, and now everything is functioning as it should. Hope this helps other people in the same boat.

The link provided by Gloria references an ability to insert notes as well as comments, but there is no such feature. I cannot find reference to "notes" of any kind, anywhere. Notes are an important function for me. Comments are fine, but removing the note feature severely impacts record keeping. Is this a bug or an actual change?

this seems to have crept in overnite in an update and totally obliterated the ability to use notes and limited functionality to threaded comments. If intentional, a bad blunder by Microsoft.

    Hi Ian,

You can refer to this article: Threaded comments and notes

To better understand your situation and provide help for you, please help confirm some information:

    1. Please capture a screenshot of your Office product name and version refer to this article: What version of Office am I using?
    2. You mentioned that you cannot right click or go to Review tab to add notes, what is the symptom? Is the option greyed out?
    3. Does the issue just happen from this morning? Were there any changes made or update prior to the issue occurring?

    Best Regards,

    Gloria
