"XML data invalid according to schema"

Hi all,

The word document that I am writing my thesis in has been behaving quite strange recently (not allowing me to save sometimes).

Now in my word document there is this error "XML data invalid according to schema" and it wont open anymore.

I'm quite lost as my backup save was over two weeks ago. Would it be possible for someone to look at my document please, if possible?

The link for the document can be found below:

Thanks in advance,

Ammar

If the document is not too large to attach to an email message, send me a copy of it that way, referencing this thread in the covering email message.

Alternatively, upload a copy of the document to the following folder of my OneDrive

and send me an email to the address shown in my signature and I will see if I can recover your document.

Of course, if you had not munged the link in the original post, I would have been able to download the document and possibly repair it.

You should accept that if someone includes a link in a post such as that they have done that so that the document can be accessed.

Please do NOT be so helpful.

    Hi Ammar,

Have you tried any steps to see if the file can be repaired?

Or have you contacted Doug for help?

To protect users privacy, I need to mask the URL link. I have sent you Doug's link via private message. You can access via  this link.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Ammar,

From the error message, it seems the file is corrupted for some reason. For example, problems with file corruption typically happen when the file is stored on a USB device that is disconnected while the device is open in Windows.

Because it is corrupted, sharing the specific document file with us will not allow us to download. When we open it, it will prompt up an error notification and there’s no way to download it for us to try to fix it.

Based on this situation, I would suggest you create a folder in your OneDrive, put the file into the folder, then share the folder with us.

In the meantime, you can try any steps in Open a document after a file corruption error and How to troubleshoot damaged documents in Word to see the result.

However, please understand that not all the corrupt file can be recovered. To avoid such an issue in the future, you can always make a copy, or store the important file in OneDrive or SharePoint Online. As the version history feature of OneDrive or SharePoint Online is easy for us to restore a previous version of the file.

    Thanks,

    Rena
